About Us

Rice Salseros is a student organization at Rice University. We are a group of very driven students (undergraduates and graduates), and we strive to support latin culture through sharing and offering what we love most: dance. Our mission is to encourage love for social dance and cultural enrichment within Rice and the Houston community, as well as support a healthy, natural and fun way of socializing. Our focus is to grow a strong and unite community of salsa dancers within Rice, we aim to be the supportive bridge of interaction with Houston dance community and make an impact on the community at large.

In support to our mission, we offer weekly classes open to Rice and Houston community. We provide instruction in salsa, merengue, and bachata as well as dance performances for various events on and off Rice University campus.

Salsa is the center of our organization, but we embrace all of the “latin” dances such as merengue, bachata, and cumbia. By cooperating with other dance groups in or out of Rice University, we ultimately aim to support all styles of dance, from the angolan Kizomba, to hip-hop or ballroom.  These wonderful dances are other rhythms that you may hear  and learn during our events.

Go out and dance! The best way to improve your dancing is to dance. It’s very addicting and Houston is a great city for salsa dancing- check out the Houston salsa scene.

Come out and dance with us!
